need to free up hard disk space but cant get rid of installed programs. I go into local disk (C) properties and it shows i that i only have 422MB free space. When i go into installed programs and add all the usage MB it comes out to 1060.68 MB. Any way to increase my RAM? I am supposed to have 11.2Gig.What is wrong? Also have random freezing.
Need to free up disk space and have random freezing?
you need to back up all your imp documents, music, pics etc and wipe your HDD clean. As to increase Ram, you're gonna have to add asticks manually. There is 2 types of memory. Hard Disk is where you keep all your data. Ram is the memory the processor uses for tasks. they are 2 different things. Wipe and reinstall will fix the freeze problems. The down side to Microsoft windows systems is that they become less and less reliable as time passes.
Reply:add an external hardisk
Reply:The missing space are used up by the OS as virtual memory or swap files for other OS. The freeze is caused by a low harddisk space. During program execution the virtual memory need a bit more space so it use other open space on your drive.
Best way to remedy this is to add a new drive but expensive.. The second thing you can do is to delete temporary files and cookies... The third thing you can do is to uninstall software that you are not using through uninstal. (Do not delete them is the directory manualy).
Reply:Your random freezing could be due to your lack of space. Go to control panel, add/remove programs, take out what you dont use. After that, be sure you run Disk Defragmenter to sort your left overs out.
