Why the KEY BOARD has random letters ?

not actually random but also not in the alphabetical sequence like- A,B,C,.................X,Y,Z.

Why the KEY BOARD has random letters ?
I don't know where you can verify this but...

the modern keyboard supposedly takes into account the frequency of use of certain letters and disburses the alphabet in such a way to maximize the effieciency in typing. I learned this in typing class (which should tell you how old I am) and I remember there were numerous keyboards but this is the one that was finally adopted. Read this article and try googling the history of typewriters for more information.
Reply:it is done that way to make keyboards easier to use.it was first done with typewriters. and is now used on computer keyboards..............
Reply:because they put the letters you use most often in the center of the three rows, and to the outside the letters you use the least.
Reply:They actually put a lot of thought and number crunching into that sequence. It puts the most-often used keys beneath the left and right hands on the middle row. The less oft used keys surround them accordingly.
Reply:I dont, know maybe becouse if they where we 'd be following a line instead of multi playing tips, this also makes our logic better.
Reply:We use the QWERTY (the first six letters) type keyboard. It was made in the 1860's for the first typewriters. It was originally in alphabetical order until a businessman suggested that you should put certain keys that are used more often in an easier to reach area. In general, commonly used keys are placed on easier spots to reach while others aren't.
Reply:The Qwerty keyboard was developed not for greater efficiency, but to slow people down. The mechanical typewriters that it was developed for could jam if letters next to each other were pressed nearly simultaneously, so they were seperated in this layout. The Dvorak keyboard is an example of a modern layout that *is* designed to increase efficiency. It is possible to get software to map your Qwerty keyboard to a Dvorak keyboard -- of course you'd then have to move all the keys so that you'd know what was where.
Reply:i think its based on which letters are used most in words
Reply:Its not random. It was designed for the typewriter about a 100 years ago. It allows both hands approximately the same amount of use.
Reply:First off, you can buy keyboards lettered from A-Z, but they're rare. The American standard keyboard is called the qwerty format. This is due to the top six letters left to right on the keyboard. I won't bore you will a long explanation, but scientist did research on different keyboard layouts and which are the fastest for users to pick up and use. Even though the qwerty keyboard looks scambled, it fits to your fingers and is quicker to use. However, one size fits all never works, so I'm sure that there are many different layouts if you want a different layout. For example, France uses a layout that is near impossible for most Americans to use.

Hope I helped!
Reply:actually the middle keys are not the most often used... the current keyboard layout was designed back when they used mechanical typewriters.. this current layout of keys was designed to limit the wear on the mechanics of the typewriter... but considering all of the worlds typewriter users were switching to computer keyboards, it didn't make sense to rearrange the keys (like to have the most commonly used in the middle) because no one was used to it
Reply:They put togheter this way because to prevent mistyping. So users are forced to look the keyboard occasionaly to press the right letter. I admit when I am typing 50% of the time I Iook down to keyboard.
